Meat for the fire

As though it were meat for the fire, that is how I regard the log I have just chopped. That is also exactly what a piece of wood looks like. The fire in my stove that feeds itself with the meat of the tree.

Now that I think about it, chopping wood fits here too. The tree is felled and then it is gutted. The tree is prepared for butchering, all the branches are removed. During butchering, the trunk is sawn into manageable pieces and chopped into stove-ready firewood.

That is how I experience it.
